Senior Mechanical Engineer Job Description Join our dynamic team as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of sustainable cooling solutions. You will lead the engineering development of commercial water chilling systems, integrating mechanical system designs into new product development programs. Your expertise in thermodynamics, chiller modeling, and pressure vessel design will be key in developing solutions that meet both local and global market needs. Responsibilities Drive thermodynamic-based modeling and optimization of chiller system design, fluid filtration, and pumping. Collaborate cross-functionally with service and operations teams to effectively launch designs into production. Develop chiller system architecture that meets or exceeds product development requirements. Confirm product design performance, capability, and reliability in engineering product test laboratories. Work with product marketing teams to develop product requirements and ensure product alignment upon launch. Execute tests for systems, subsystems, and components; analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives. Follow all appropriate design, safety, and qualification standards in development programs. Work toward commonality and optimization of product and components to reduce design errors and escapes. Produce parts, specifications, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems, or work orders/purchase requests. Conduct thermal analysis and simulations to evaluate system performance under various operating conditions and environments. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in thermal systems engineering. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 5-10 years of mechanical engineering design experience or a Master’s degree with 3-6 years of experience. Strong understanding of thermodynamics, chiller modeling, tube-in-shell heat transfer, pressure vessel design, refrigerant system performance analysis, and compression application. Project leadership experience. Strong communication skills, primarily in English. Leadership and teamwork skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a new product development, service, and/or aftermarket space. HVAC industry experience is strongly preferred. Experience with Engineering to Order systems with 3000+ parts/BOMs/sub-assemblies. Some experience in quoting and costing. Familiarity with SAP and Windchill is advantageous. Work Environment This role offers a global platform for global chillers, with engineering, materials, design, and manufacturing all onsite. You will be involved in high-profile projects and special assignments, with products shipped to diverse regions such as the Middle East, US, and Canada. The company is transitioning to SAP, providing opportunities to work with a state-of-the-art system.
