BAE Systems, Precision Guidance and Sensing Solutions (PGSS) Product Line within the Precision Strike (PS) Business Area has an immediate opening for an experienced Systems Engineer specializing in semi-conductor materials for infrared detectors. In this position, subject matter expertise will be required in the areas of the focal plane technology along with microelectronic circuitry; the position will also require interfacing with the production staff, understanding the system requirements and how the product is built, supporting discussions on any failure analysis efforts. This also includes interface to BAE Subcontracts, other Engineering disciplines, and suppliers for the system. The successful candidate will support business and engineering leadership to help grow the PGSS product line by applying BAE Systems broad technology base to fill real gaps that Department of Defense customers have in the area of IR focal planes with an emphasis on providing technical support to the team. The ideal candidate will work with other subject matter experts assisting with technical challenges associated with the focal plane, discussions with our prime customer and the US Government representatives. Our engineers are members of cross-functional, multi-disciplined teams focused on developing cost-effective systems that meet the needs of our customers. Candidates should be comfortable working with teams of all sizes and enjoy a mix of creative design work, mentoring the next generation of proteges, developing White Papers and presenting internally and externally

• Required Education, Experience, & Skills
• + Experience with focal plane technology and semi-conductor materials + Experience in working with production teams, understanding Acceptance Test Procedures/Software.

+ Experience with subcontractor interface, Smart Munition design assessment, and integration activities + Familiarity with failure analysis activities and Failure Review Board process + Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research, or Computer Science + A Secret Clearance is required for this position

• Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
• + Ability to Identify potential risk areas, develop plans / recommendations for risk mitigation + Experience with missile systems and guided projectiles + Ability to communicate effectively with peers, senior leadership, and other engineering disciplines + Ability to understand CONOPS for missile systems + Ability to develop requirements in response to customer operational needs + Exposure to the development, integration, test, qualification and production of Air-to-Air, Air-to-Ground and Ground-to-Ground Missiles, Guided Projectiles and Glide Weapon Systems.

Full-Time Salary Range:

$146670 – $249330 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience. Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20 hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
