Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)As a SeniorSoftware Development Engineer in Test (SDET) at Tyler Technologies,you will play a vital role in ensuring our public safety solutionswork reliably and efficiently at scale, supporting first responderswith software used on the front lines of law enforcement, firerescue, and public safety agencies across the United States.

We arelooking for an experienced, pragmatically minded, visionary leaderto move our testing practices to the next level by increasingautomation and integration with our DevSecOps pipeline, expandingtest coverage, coaching and guiding other testers, and engagingwith designers and product owners to ensure requirements aretestable. You will also work with engineers to ensure their workcan be tested and with release managers, so everyone is clear aboutwhat’s going out in upcoming releases and is ready to roll.

Whilefocused on the future, you will also need to be prepared to grab apick-and-shovel, engaging in hands-on testing to support ourreleases while instituting change by example and through advocacyfor improvements in practices and tooling.

LocationTroy,MichiganTravel0-5%Responsibilities Have a rich background in testing across a variety of currenttechnologies. Contribute to and maintain automation tests andframeworks. Know how to advocate successfully for change and not be afraidto have collaborative, hard conversations while balancing theorganization’s long-term interests with short-term needs. Foster a culture of “built-in quality” and promote the adoptionof effective test automation within our product teams. Be driven to develop creative and innovative solutions to solvecomplex testing problems and improve test automationeffectiveness. Provide product teams with test automation tools and frameworksthat can be leveraged to accelerate the consistent delivery ofhigh-quality software. Guide the product teams in helping determine what needs testcoverage and at what level (unit, integration, end to end). Understand the critical importance of defining quality metricswith stakeholders, determining how to collect them, andcommunicating risk and success based on keyindicators.

Qualifications Strong passion for quality and excellence. Multiple years in a software engineering role with demonstrableknowledge of multiple programming languages. Strong understanding of OO and SOLID programmingprinciples. Ability to think critically, with strong analytical andproblem-solving skills. Experience testing web technologies, RESTful APIs, and buildinga test automation suite. Ability to function well in a high-paced, and at times,stressful environment. Be curious with an ability to think outside the box and learnnew things quickly. Team player with excellent communication and collaborationskills.
