Location:
Orlando Veterans Affairs Medical Center (OVAMC), Lake Nona, FL, and affiliate locations
Position Type:
Contract (12-month base period + four 12-month option periods)
Work Hours:
Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-11:30 AM and 12:30 PM-4:30 PM (occasional weekends/holidays as required) Looking for local candidates and please do not apply if not local to Orlando.

Job Summary The Orlando VA Medical Center (OVAMC) seeks a highly skilled Network Engineer with specialized expertise in Industrial Control Networks (ICN) to design, implement, and maintain secure, air-gapped network infrastructure supporting critical healthcare operations. The engineer will ensure compliance with
NIST 800-171, VA
policies, and industrial control system standards while managing multi-site LAN/WLAN, CCTV, access control systems, and ICS components (e.g., AMAG, Pelco, JCI Metasys). Key Responsibilities Industrial Control Network (ICN)
Focus:
Design, configure, and maintain the air-gapped ICN for Facility Management Services (FMS), ensuring isolation from OIT, medical, and other VA networks. Oversee ICN device migrations (e.g., JCI equipment to VA OIT) and provide SME support for the 6550-process. Manage IP space, VLANs, and VRF-lite configurations for ICN devices across OVAHCS. Provide ICN support for AMAG, Pelco CCTV systems, and Metasys Building Automation (JCI). Develop and maintain ICN documentation, including telecom room configurations and project plans. Escort/test third-party contractors working on ICN projects to ensure compliance and quality.
General Network Engineering:
Configure and troubleshoot Cisco 6500/4000/3000 series switches, WLAN (5500 controllers, 3000 APs), and
ACS 802.1X.
Implement multi-server environments (DNS, WINS, Ether-Channel) and interconnections between OVAHCS sites. Ensure
NIST 800-171
compliance and adherence to VA security standards. Respond to ICN-related inquiries from staff, vendors, and stakeholders. Required Qualifications 10+ years of network engineering experience, with 2+ years specializing in ICN systems (AMAG, Pelco, JCI Metasys).
Certifications:
ISC2 CISSP
(Required).
FCIC/NCIC
Limited Access Certification (Required). Cisco (CCNP/CCIE preferred). Expertise in Cisco VRF-lite, VLANs, and metro-E LANs. Knowledge of NIST 800-171 and industrial control system security.
