Position Information
The purpose of this classification is to develop and implement data security policies and procedures and to install and administer security hardware and software for the County’s computer networks We are seeking a highly skilled cybersecurity professional to lead proactive threat-hunting initiatives, leveraging advanced security tools to identify and mitigate risks before they escalate This role will be responsible for conducting both internal and external penetration testing, performing complex network diagnostics related to firewall configurations, and collaborating with teams to strengthen defenses through engaging purple team exercises Ideal candidates will have a strategic mindset and hands-on expertise in detecting, analyzing, and responding to emerging cyber threats

Schedule:

M-F 8am-5pm
This is not a remote/work from home position A hybrid work schedule may be considered after the probationary period
Essential Functions
Assists with development, implementation, and maintenance of information technology security solutions to protect County IT assets and infrastructure from external or internal threats: implements firewall solutions, antivirus solutions, intrusion prevention systems, email gateway and physical access to properly secure data; assists in processing security variance requests; makes recommendations and provides advice regarding best security practices and risk assumptions for any variances granted; and implements subsequent configuration change requests
Perform reviews of network security architecture, information security administration and antivirus and intrusion prevention system policies: monitors systems for any anomalies, proper updating, and patching; conducts security audits and network scans; and ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements regarding information access, security and privacy
Investigates any actual or potential Information security issues: responds to breaches, intrusions, or theft; conducts forensic investigations; implements measures to restore network to secure state; and provides a thorough post-event analysis
Assist with new system designs and major modifications for security implications prior to implementation: provides consultation on all new implementations, configuration changes, and projects requiring security operational support
Prepares and submits a variety of reports regarding information security issues: compiles and gathers information; conducts research; and creates reports, including information regarding security risks and mitigation
Maintains an awareness of new applications, technologies, technical methods, trends, and advances in the profession: reviews professional publications, technical manuals, and websites to increase knowledge of network operations; and attends conferences, workshops, and training sessions as appropriate
Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Network Administration, Information Technology or related field; supplemented by five years of progressively responsible experience in maintaining network security devices; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job
Preferred Qualifications
Security focused industry certifications such as CySA+, CISSP, CCNP-Security, CCIE-Security, OSCP
Experience with advanced networking techniques
Physical Abilities
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds) Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station
