SECRET Position Overview:

The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) is responsible for overseeing and validating security controls, ensuring compliance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) using eMASS, and safeguarding sensitive data and IT systems across enterprise environments. The ISSO serves as a key cybersecurity expert responsible for maintaining system security certifications, supporting assessments, and ensuring ongoing security compliance through continuous monitoring, vulnerability management, and incident response.

Key Responsibilities:

Support and validate security control implementation through RMF processes using eMASS and related toolsets. Formulate, assess, and implement enterprise-wide IT security policies aligned with business impact and risk posture. Prepare and maintain security documentation, including system security plans (SSPs), POAMs, and incident response protocols. Provide engineering support for application development, system security certifications, and project evaluations. Lead efforts in security awareness training, change management, audit log review, penetration testing coordination, and antivirus planning. Manage and implement protective and corrective actions when cybersecurity incidents or vulnerabilities are discovered. Collaborate with developers and system administrators to embed security into the design, implementation, and testing of systems. Evaluate, review, and test security code and firewall configurations to meet compliance and mission objectives. Perform risk assessments, vulnerability analyses, and provide remediation guidance and oversight. Support security auditing efforts and continuous monitoring activities to maintain Authority to Operate (ATO) and mission assurance. Execute privacy and sensitive data handling practices in accordance with federal and DoD policies. This position is pending contract award.

Job Requirements Minimum Education and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or associate degree in Computer Science, Math, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or a minimum Information Assurance Management (IAM) Certification. (Six years of experience is equivalent to three years of education.)

Required Experience and Skills:

Six (6) years of experience in information security or information assurance. Five (5) years of experience working within the RMF process, including security assessments, control implementation, and continuous monitoring. Demonstrated understanding of major architectures and platforms in integrated environments. Familiarity with core infrastructure systems such as Active Directory, UNIX, Windows, and relational databases. Proven ability to work independently and deliver security solutions in complex operational settings. SECRET clearance required.
