Cryptography Engineer III (Remote – NC, AZ, NJ, VA)
Overview
This is a remote role that may only be hired in the following locations:

NC, NJ, AZ, VA.

•Remote with ability to travel to Raleigh, North Carolina, Phoenix, Arizona or Morristown, New Jersey, on an as needed basis.
The position plays as a key member of our security team, responsible for managing and optimizing key management services, encryption services, crypto discovery, and other crypto related functions. This role requires a deep understanding of cryptographic principles and practices to ensure the protection of data across the organization.
Responsibilities

Key Management Services:

Manage the lifecycle of cryptographic keys including generation, distribution, rotation, and revocation. Implement robust key management protocols to ensure the security and integrity of keys across various platforms.

Encryption Services:

Develop and maintain encryption solutions for data at rest and in transit. Ensure that all encryption practices meet current industry standards and organizational policies for data security.

Crypto Discovery:

Conduct regular scans and audits to identify and document cryptographic assets across the organization. Evaluate the security configuration of cryptographic methods and recommend enhancements or replacements.

Implementation and Maintenance:

Deploy new cryptographic technologies and maintain existing systems. Ensure compatibility and integration with other IT security measures.

Compliance and Standards:

Stay updated with the latest regulatory requirements and industry standards related to cryptography. Ensure all cryptographic practices comply with legal and regulatory frameworks.

Education and Training:

Assist in developing training materials and conducting sessions for other IT staff on cryptographic best practices and new technologies.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience in systems engineering, networking or information security technologies -OR- High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 10 years of experience in systems engineering, networking or information security technologies
Preferred degree discipline: Information Security, MIS, Computer Science/Engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced Security Certifications, such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) are highly desirable.
Expert knowledge of cryptographic protocols and algorithms.
Experience with commercial cryptographic toolsets and hardware, such as Key Management Tools, Encryption Tools, and HSMs.
Proficiency in scripting languages, particularly for automation of cryptographic tasks.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex technical challenges.
Strong communication skills, capable of documenting processes clearly and interacting effectively with IT and security teams.
