Description of Work Recruitment Range:

  • $110,000 Annually NC General Assembly positions are NOT Subject to the State Human Resources Act(G.

S. 126). Why should you be here? You care about government efficiency and abundance. You want to trust government to do the right thing. And you’re tired of excuses for poor performance and poor service. As a Senior Investigative Analyst with House Oversight, you will directly support North Carolina General Assembly House Members and committees in holding government agencies accountable for results. Members rely on us to dig into the finances, operations, and strategies of those who spend state tax dollars. We provide analysis and recommendations that lead to action. In addition to the legislators themselves, you will meet directly with people who lost their homes or businesses, with those who can’t get essential services, with the front-line government employees hamstrung by government rules, with academic researchers who can provide evidence, with industry experts, and with the government leaders responsible for implementing change. You will ask the tough questions: Why does this exist? What should it achieve? And how well is it actually working for the people of North Carolina? Your years of experience will help guide our in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis and clearly communicate our findings in plain English. An ear for language, an eye for design, and a mind for strategy are essential. The position is partisan legislative staff reporting to the House Majority Staff Director. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements We’re looking for flexible, highly motivated thinkers with 5+ years of experience who can: Analyze data with Excel, SPSS, R, Python, and other platforms.
Present complex information clearly and persuasively through words, numbers, and visuals.
Provide insightful program development advice and recommendations.
Have an advanced degree in a relevant field.
