In this role, you will provide computer network defense, incidence response, and correlation analysis for information network systems, as well as monitor and assist with the administration of physical access control systems.

Examples of Duties:

Oversees security of systems, applications, information assets and operating processes. Assists with the development and implementation of information security strategies, policies and procedures. Develops comprehensive communication plans and initiates notification protocols. Monitors developments and trends in information security. Conducts risk assessments, security inspections, and system process audits to identify vulnerabilities and establishes appropriate methods for avoiding or mitigating potential risks. Conducts forensic research of security compromises. Works with other IT Department teams to integrate security best practices with the City’s technology infrastructure. Assists with continuity management plans, disaster scenarios, and incident response plans. Performs project management responsibilities. Produces proposals, specifications and recommendations. May provide information security management training to employees. Applies knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of information security best practices and procedures to address areas such as: antivirus and endpoint management software and techniques, enterprise level Web filtering software, hardware and techniques, firewalls and firewall “next generation” technologies, intrusion detection, and prevention software and techniques, information security governance frameworks, mobile device security principals, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) compliance, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance, system and file encryption, systems hardware and software hardening and monitoring, operating system architecture, characteristics, commands and components applicable to City system platforms. Assists in the development of education and training materials and programs to improve security awareness levels for all employees within the City. Assists with the design, administration, and operation of systems which control physical security and access control to offices spaces. Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent in Computer Science or related field, and 4 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Reasonable knowledge of database software, design software, development software, and Internet software. Valid driver’s license. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Access, Project, Excel and Word or similar software. Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute by touch.

Preferred Qualifications:
CEH, GSEC / GCIH

/ GCIA, or Security+. Other information security certifications such as CISSP, GIAC’s

GCED, GPEN, CCNA/CCNA

Security.

Other Necessary Requirements:

May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
