Security Engineering Manager
The Department of Administration’s (Admin) Division of Information Security (DIS) is growing and now is a great time to join State Government! DIS is responsible for a variety of statewide policies, standards, programs and services related to cybersecurity and information systems, including the statewide coordination of critical infrastructure information. We are seeking a Security Engineering Manager to join our team. The Security Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the design, implementation, and operation of secure technology solutions and infrastructure. This role ensures the technology environment is effectively protected against cybersecurity threats by managing a skilled team of security architects, engineers, and administrators as they collaborate with stakeholders to proactively address emerging threats.

Responsibilities of the

Security Engineering Manager:

Manage and oversee the implementation and operation of security tools and infrastructure solutions to protect state assets.
Develop, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of security engineers, fostering an environment of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Establish, document, and continuously improve security engineering standards, policies, and procedures.
Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate security best practices into system development lifecycles (SDLC) and operations.
Proactively identify, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies and practices to improve the state’s cybersecurity posture.
Enhance organizational resilience through effective engineering support for disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and crisis response preparedness.
Supervise staff to include preparing performance planning and evaluation documents and related personnel paperwork. Coach, counsel and train employees. Establish and monitor work processes. Implement management policies and initiatives and promote teamwork.
This is an essential position that directly contributes the security of state systems and resources.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and at least six (6) years of information technology experience, four (4) years of which must be in information security management. Relevant experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis. Extensive knowledge and background in information technology infrastructure and security.

Additional Requirements:

Expert-level skills in enterprise security monitoring, detection, containment and incident response coordination. Solid understanding of network, infrastructure and application security design considerations and best practices. Must be highly organized, detail oriented with project management experience and well-developed written and verbal communication.
