Information Technology Full Job Description Job Summary:
The ISSO (Information System Security Officer) Provides support for a program, organization, system, or enclaves information assurance program; provide support for proposing, coordinating, implementing, and enforcing information systems security policies, standards, and methodologies; maintain operational security posture for an information system or program to ensure information systems security policies, standards, and procedures are established and followed; assist with the management of security aspects of the information system and perform day-to-day security operations of the system; evaluate security solutions to ensure they meet security requirements for processing classified information; perform vulnerability/risk assessment analysis to support certification and accreditation; provide configuration management (CM) for information system security software, hardware, and firmware; manage changes to system and assess the security impact of those changes; prepare and review documentation to include Systems Security Plans (SSPs),; support security authorization activities in compliance with NIST 800-53 and NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission)guidance. This position falls under the direction of the Cyber Security Manager and works closely with the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM), corporate (physical) security, engineering, Classified Services Network (CSN), and operations Distributed Control System (DCS) system owners. This position performs assignments based on direct supervision instruction and guidance. This position participates in budget development and task planning activities with IT management and staff. Secondary duties and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of IT Management. This position reports to the Cyber Security Manager but may take direction from a project manager.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain the appropriate operational security posture for assigned systems, programs, and/or enclaves.
- Provides security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management across classified networks.
- Recommends system-level solutions to resolve security requirements.
- Assist in the development and execution of an enterprise level continuous monitoring program to minimize security risks and ensure compliance with that program on a routine basis.
- Monitor system recovery processes to ensure security features and functions are properly restored.
- Maintain the appropriate operational security posture for assigned systems, programs, and/or enclaves.
- Provides configuration management for security-relevant information system software, hardware, and firmware.
- Participate in the change management process, including reviewing Change Requests and assisting in assessing the security impact of proposed changes.
- Ensures all support requests are properly entered into the IT Help Desk tracking system in accordance with IT policies and procedures.
May refer problem to another applicable technical support group for resolution.
Education and Experience Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology Engineering, or a related field may be substituted for four (4) years’ experience.
- A working knowledge of the security authorization processes and procedures as defined in the
NIST SP800-53
- Experience with hardware/software security implementations.
- Knowledge of multiple common network servers, operating systems, hardware platforms, standards and protocols used in Centrus’ infrastructure architecture.
Desired Qualifications:
- Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” level security clearance.
