Maritime Cybersecurity Technical Director
Knoxville, TN, United States

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Maritime Operational Technology (OT) Cybersecurity Technical Director will support ABS Group’s global cybersecurity practice with a focus on Maritime Transportation System (MTS) clients (e.g., ports, vessels, and offshore facilities). This role is a senior subject matter expert position that combines technical leadership with business development and client management. The Technical Director is responsible for driving and delivering cybersecurity consulting services and assessment projects across the maritime domain, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards and address client needs in safety and security.

What You Will Do:

Serve as the maritime OT cybersecurity subject matter expert for ABS Group, providing technical guidance and oversight on consulting engagements.
Plan and execute cybersecurity consulting and assessment projects for maritime assets and infrastructure.
Ensure client engagements align with relevant cybersecurity frameworks and maritime regulations.
Drive growth of ABS Group’s maritime cybersecurity services through a seller/doer model.
Build and maintain strong relationships with maritime industry clients, acting as a trusted advisor on cybersecurity matters.
Shape technical delivery standards and best practices for the maritime cybersecurity consultancy practice.
Mentor and coach junior consultants and engineers in the cybersecurity team.
Work closely with ABS Group leadership to support strategic growth initiatives for the cybersecurity business.
Establish and reinforce ABS Group’s reputation as a leader in maritime cybersecurity.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field
10+ years of professional experience in industrial control systems / OT cybersecurity, focused on maritime environments
At least one relevant security certification such as CISSP, CISM or similar. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proven expertise with maritime OT systems such as Navigation, Propulsion, Power Generation, Steering, Fire/Flooding Detection, ship and shore cargo management systems, and etc.
Strong working knowledge of

NIST CSF, ISA/IEC

62443 and familiarity with

IMO 2021, IACS UR

E22, E26, and E27.
Demonstrated ability to develop business in a consulting environment using a seller-doer model.
Strong leadership and team management skills with excellent communication abilities.

Travel Requirements:

Approx. 25% domestic and international travel.
Ability to obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management System or ability to learn it.
