The Science, Technology, Research and Analysis (STAR) Group sits at the heart of the Home Office. The group ensures the best evidence and analysis are used to address the strategic issues facing the department. We also provide the science, technology, data, and international insights and collaboration capabilities to drive delivery. As a Power BI Data Analyst in Performance Reporting & Analysis Unit (PRAU), you’ll play a key role in improving how Power BI is used across the Home Office by helping teams design clear, effective reports and dashboards. You’ll lead on best practice in report design and visualisation, supporting others to use Power BI confidently and get the most out of it. You’ll also help to drive adoption across the business by sharing your knowledge, staying up to date with new features, and encouraging teams to use the tool in the right way. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with others, developing skills across a team, and making a real difference to how information is presented and understood. You’ll be part of a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your input will really count. PRAU is part of the Home Office Analysis & Insight Directorate within STAR. We support Ministers, the Executive Committee, Policy and Operational leads and other analytical functions with the management information (MI) that they need, as well as producing data for publication and other forms of external release. You may work on projects of high political exposure, value or complexity and you will engage with senior stakeholders, championing the value of data analysis and the adoption of tools like Microsoft Power BI for effective reporting. You will be engaged with, and actively contribute to, the Data Analyst community and be comfortable with managing, mentoring and training junior / inexperienced staff particularly in Power BI approaches and best practice.
