Full Time Job Summary The Data Analyst in the Financial Aid Office plays a key role in managing and analyzing data related to student financial aid, ensuring data accuracy and integrity. This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining financial aid systems, generating reports, and providing analytical support to help drive data-driven decisions and improve the overall financial aid process. The ideal candidate will have experience with financial aid systems, data analysis, and a strong understanding of higher education operations. Essential Job Duties

Data Management & Analysis:

Analyze large datasets related to financial aid and student demographics, ensuring data integrity and accurate reporting.

System Administration & Integration:

Work closely with the IT department to configure, maintain, and troubleshoot financial aid software systems. Ensure smooth system operations and seamless integration of data between financial aid and other campus systems (e.g., Admissions, Registrar).
Collaboration with

IT:

Partner with IT professionals to resolve technical issues, implement system updates, and optimize software for better performance and data accuracy.

Reporting & Compliance:

Develop, maintain, and generate standard and ad-hoc reports to assist decision-making and ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.

System Administration:

Assist in the configuration and administration of financial aid software systems, ensuring smooth operations and system updates.

Data Integration:

Collaborate with other depaltments, such as Admissions, Registrar, and IT, to ensure seamless data integration between systems.

Process Improvement:

Evaluate existing processes, identify opportunities for optimization, and recommend improvements to streaxnline financial aid workflows.

Technical Support:

Provide technical support to financial aid staff regarding the use of financial aid systems and related applications.

Training & Documentation:

Create and maintain documentation for systems and processes. Provide training to staff on data-related tools, reports, and best practices.

Troubleshooting:

Identify and resolve issues within the financial aid system related to data discrepancies, system errors, or report generation.

Data Management:

Load financial aid data files and ensure accuracy and integrity of data.

Report Generation:

Edit and generate reports using Colleague and Informer to support financial aid operations.

Software Utilization:

Utilize EDconnect for data management and reporting purposes.

Web Maintenance:

Maintain and update the financial aid webpage and booking site to provide current information to students and stakeholders.

Collaboration:

Work closely with financial aid staffto identify data needs and develop effective solutions.

Ad-Hoc Reporting:

Run ad-hoc reports as required to assist in decision-making processes.

Compliance:

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations regarding financial aid data.
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
Bachelor’s degree in any field is acceptable but Computer Science is preferred
Minimum of 8 years of experience in financial aid or a related field
Physical Demands
Ability to operate standard office equipment
Ability to walk short distances
Ability to lift and carry parcels, packages and other items
Ability to view a computer terminal

Skills and Attributes Knowledge of:

Financial aid processes, regulations and reporting
Knowledge of federal, state, institutional and private financial aid programs
Student information system (SIS) and management of financial assistance software
Familiarity with federal and state financial aid regulations and compliance
Experience with EDconnect is required

Skills:
Technical Skills:

Proficiency in data management and reporting tools, specifically Colleague and Informer. Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL is preferred.

Analytical Skills:

Strong analytical skills required
Attention to details: Strong focus on accuracy and the ability to correct discrepancies in data.

Problem Solving:

Ability to identify issues, troubleshoot problems and implement effective solutions. Ability to collaborate with IT team members to ensure seamless access to relevant data and generate reports
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
Ability to:
Work both independently and within a collegial team environment
Communicate effectively with colleagues and administration
Ability to validate and transform raw financial aid data into accurate usable information
Ability to assist with audits ensuring financial aid data adheres to institutional policies and regulatory guidelines
Identify opportunities for automation of processes
