Position Summary The successful candidate(s) will provide integrated data and system support across five task areas: 1. Data Management and Data Quality Support 2. Epidemiologic and Statistical Analysis 3. Data Presentation 4. System/Application Design and Development 5. Operations and Maintenance This role combines technical expertise, analytical capability, and strong communication skills to support critical public health initiatives. Key Responsibilities Task 1: Data Management and Data Quality Support Use SAS, R, Python, REDCap, EpiInfo, and related tools to manage epidemiologic and lab datasets. Identify and resolve data inconsistencies; develop data quality reports. Convert datasets between formats (e.g., Excel, Access, SQL) and ensure proper storage and transfer per CDC/HHS standards. Develop and maintain data entry forms, documentation, and issue resolution logs. Task 2: Epidemiologic and Statistical Analysis Perform complex statistical analyses using SAS, R, or Python. Apply epidemiological methods including regression models, multilevel modeling, and survival analysis. Support study design, power calculations, and analytical planning. Generate graphical and tabular summaries and collaborate with CDC researchers. Task 3: Data Presentation Develop dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, R Shiny, or similar platforms. Present findings in visually engaging and scientifically sound formats for various audiences. Task 4: System/Application Design and Development Design and implement data systems using technologies like .NET, JavaScript, SQL, and CDC cloud tools. Support agile software development life cycles (design, coding, testing, deployment). Ensure compliance with CDC security and HHS privacy standards including HIPAA. Coordinate with CDC OCIO and Cloud teams for hosting and ATO approvals. Task 5: Operations and Maintenance Maintain ongoing system functionality, user support, and defect resolution. Deliver system documentation, update logs, and operational reporting. Apply patches/upgrades and ensure system performance meets established SLAs. Support analytics reporting pipelines and data extracts for internal and external use.
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in data analysis, systems development, or epidemiologic research. Proficiency in SAS, R, SQL, Python, REDCap, and Power BI/Tableau. Knowledge of
CDC/HHS IT
security and data management best practices. Strong analytical thinking and ability to communicate technical information clearly.
Preferred:
Master’s degree in a related discipline. Prior experience supporting CDC or public health agencies. Familiarity with Agile development, ATO processes, and federal cloud environments.
