The Global Airport Process & Analytics team (GAPA) is a high energy, high visibility group within Delta’s Operational Analysis & Performance (OAP) division. The GAPA team serves as internal consultants who leverage industrial engineering and analytical techniques to provide strategic process improvement and actionable insights for the Airport Customer Support (ACS) business. The GAPA team is seeking a Specialist to join a diverse and high caliber analytical network. As part of the team, you’ll be empowered to develop innovative solutions and forward-looking insight to help ACS business leaders run a safe and efficient operation at 300+ airports. This will require big picture critical thinking and the ability to articulate actionable insights to Delta-wide executive audiences.
The Specialist will:
Locate and extract data from a variety of sources for use in analysis, models and reporting
Lead or support others with in-field data collection and observations
Use descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytical techniques to highlight business challenges, potential solutions, and relevant tradeoffs
Develop new basic analytical models or modify existing ones
Transform data into actionable insights using data visualization and story telling techniques
Support process improvement and project management engagements for both ACS and cross-divisional initiatives
Be able to present findings to Delta-wide executive audiences and cater the message depending on the leadership audience
Practice safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

QUALIFICATIONS

Successful candidates will have a basic understanding or experience with most, if not all, of the following:
MS Office (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Power Apps, Access and Word)
Advanced applications (e.g., simulation, optimization, statistical analysis, optimization, linear regression, machine learning)
SQL, SAS, Python, or other database interface tools and languages
Visual Basic or other basic functional programming tools
Visualization Tools (Tableau, Power BI)
Must be performing satisfactory in current position.
Track record of seeking leadership roles including student and community organizations
Direct experience communicating with stakeholders, delivering projects end-to-end, and working collaboratively to drive improvement in the overall analytical support of Delta operations worldwide
Must be comfortable working in group and individual settings.
Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data. Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles. Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency. Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Information Science, Business/Management, Mathematics/Statistics, or other relevant quantitative field required and 2+ years of experience in analysis, information science, data visualization, or other relevant quantitative field required.
Previous experience in operational roles
Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills; excellent ability to seek input from and understand concerns of other stakeholders; high level of diplomacy and business experience
Superior business acumen with strong financial and analytical skills and airline industry knowledge; ability to make high-impact decisions based on quantitative and qualitative factors
Proven track record of out of the box thinking and an ability to think large scale
