Data Analyst The Times-Picayune | NOLA.com and The Advocate seek a data analyst to work on a forward-thinking team that energizes and reshapes our company’s digital products. This position is a major player on an important, cross-functional team comprised of a product team director, two engineers/developers and this position, a data analyst.

— Our company is locally owned and is the largest media organization in Louisiana with a staff of more than 100 journalists across our four markets – New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Shreveport-Bossier. A top candidate could accomplish the following: — Be fluid in SQL and Python. That means knowing the concepts and writing, testing and deploying clear, concise and efficient queries and code. — Find new ways to incorporate A.I. into our data reporting and analysis routines. — Organize large datasets and effectively communicate trends to colleagues who might not understand the data as well on their own. This is particularly important with reporters and editors. — Be a go-to-source for building reports and dashboards with actionable data that can be shared with colleagues at all levels of the company. — Be a strong voice in meetings to encourage colleagues to look beyond what they’re requesting from you and point out details you might’ve discovered or details a colleague missed. — Bring an enthusiasm for the role of local news in the community and have a motivation to better understand what our audiences are telling us they want from us. — Consistently meet deadlines (shame on us as a journalism shop if we didn’t mention meeting deadlines!) A word on education and expertise: — Experience with SQL, Python and data modeling — At least 2 years of experience in data analysis with another company — A strong command of Google Analytics, Tag Manager, Big Query and Data Studio — A similarly strong command of Microsoft Excel Our offices are based in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Shreveport-Bossier.
