Position Summary The 30-credit Master of Science in Data Analytics is designed to meet the demand from employers and provide students with an end-to-end analytics education through a core curriculum with real practical experience. The MS in Data Analytics prepares students with a deep understanding of the technical aspects of working with data, along with the capacity to identify and communicate analysis to stakeholders. Students graduate with a portfolio of work demonstrating their abilities and receive a Tier 3 SAS Academic Specialization. The program also offers a 15-credit Data Analytics Graduate Certificate, and in the future will feature a core and STEM curriculum that will allow students to specialize within areas of interest, such as AI and business analytics. Graduate business programs are AACSB-accredited and housed within the division of Graduate and Professional Studies and the Leo J. Meehan School of Business. The Division of Graduate and Professional Studies provides academic leadership and oversight of the College’s graduate and professional programs. GPS offers in-person, hybrid, and fully online master’s degrees, graduate certificates, and professional development in business, education, and professional science programs. Our academic programs are designed to empower working professionals and recent graduates to expand their employment and career opportunities through rigorous, convenient, and flexible academic offerings. Faculty in the Division of Graduate and Professional Studies work within their respective graduate department as well as collaboratively with joint and undergraduate colleagues in related undergraduate Departments. GPS works closely and collaboratively with the Leo J. Meehan School of Business, and working across the division and school is an expectation of all faculty members. This position is eligible for hire at either an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank, with future opportunity to serve as program coordinator. Essential Duties and Responsibilities An Assistant or Associate Professor of Business Analytics within the Master of Science in Data Analytics will teach a variety of graduate courses such as Statistics for Data Analytics, Database & Data Warehouse Concepts, Data Mining, Database Applications, Visualization & Digital Storytelling, and others. Graduate courses are offered in-person, hybrid, and fully online, and faculty are expected to effectively teach within each of these modalities. In addition, as a member of GPS, the faculty will contribute to quality assurance and accreditation, policy development, and liaising with external stakeholders, as well as student recruitment efforts and advising. Education and/or Experience Doctoral Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Additionally, experience in graduate higher education and teaching online is expected. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The applicant must commit to ongoing research productivity and demonstrate participation in the broader academic community in terms of journal review responsibilities, participation in academic conferences, and other academic roles. A commitment to service to the Department, School, and College is also essential. The applicant must show a strong interest in teaching and mentoring graduate students and enjoy working closely with student advisees to establish academic and professional goals.
