Job Description
The Membership Data Analyst provides highly specialized services to the Global Membership department related to financial, fundraising and operational analysis . They are responsible for providing complex reports, dashboards and interpretive analysis for the leadership in each market.
Data VisualizationThe analyst will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying and continuously improving all PowerBI and Google Analytics dashboards as well as Excel standardized reports. They must have an intimate understanding of SQL, BigQuery and Excel and be able to efficiently build all extracts and live data feeds that populate their visualizations. They must be practiced at data cleaning and preparation as well as designing easy to use dashboards and reports. They must be intimately aware of and follow SDLC and Agile principles in the development of all analytic products. They must have the ability to communicate clearly and regularly with our stakeholders in gathering their requirements and collaborating with them in the iterative design, deployment and maintenance of their visualizations.
Data Analysis and InterpretationThe analyst will be responsible for working closely with various Global Membership team stakeholders to identify key business questions, conduct ad-hoc analytics, and develop meaningful insights and recommendations from their analysis to drive revenue and donor growth. They respond to elaborate questions and problems based on advanced knowledge of direct response marketing and the Membership program’s strategies, as well as finance procedures. They will be responsible for clearly and concisely communicating the results of their work through PowerPoint presentations and data stories to the teams they support. They will play a pivotal role in identifying areas of underperformance and future opportunities based on their analysis ; and will be responsible for clearly communicating these identified opportunities and threats to key decision makers. Their analysis and interpretation will help drive the strategic plan and forecasting process as well as help TNC to focus on the areas of biggest growth opportunity in the countries we support. Finally, they will manage the development of budgets, forecasts, scenarios, and revenue / expense analysis by country and create elaborate reports and interpretive financial analysis for leadership in each market.
TestingThe analyst will be responsible for helping to establish all fundraising and operational in-market tests that are developed from their analysis; and also for conducting the statistical analysis to measure their impact. They must have strong skills in parametric and non-parametric testing methods and be able to clearly present the results of the tests to non-quantitative team members. They must also have basic knowledge of data modeling principles and be able to work with our data science team in pulling and cleaning modeling datasets.
Data GovernanceThe analyst will work with our data engineers and external system partners in improving the accuracy and completeness of captured data in our CRM systems and donor warehouse. They must understand basic relational data architecture and have experience with data intake and ETL processes. They will be responsible for identifying any data errors and working with our IT department to fix them. They must have experience with both omni-channel
CRM / CDP
systems and their component parts as well as a cloud-based warehouse like AWS or Azure. They will become practiced in the systems and data models used by Global Membership and Finance, as well as the revenue and expense processes of each country’s membership program. They understand the finance systems, revenue management in the database of record, Global Membership reporting systems, and the interactions and data relationships between systems.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field and 3 years’ experience or equivalent combination
- End user support experience
- Experience with the use of Microsoft Office programs
- Experience manipulating relational data
- Experience with SQL, advanced Excel features, data warehousing tools, statistical software (SAS, Python, R, or Similar)
- Web analytics experience
- Proficiency in relational database architecture, ETL processes, and data management principles
- Experience with direct response marketing revenue and expense analysis
- Experience with sales funnels and analyzing CRM data
- Experience in building dashboards and enterprise reports (PowerBI, Tableau, Looker)
