Description of Work:

The Labor and Economic Analysis Division (LEAD) is the state’s resource for workforce and economic development data, information, and insights. The division’s primary functions include collecting, analyzing, estimating and reporting key economic and employment data, conducting research and policy analysis to support the state’s strategic goals to strengthen workforce, economic, and community development. The Data Analyst position is located in LEAD’s Data Analytics and Research Team which leverages LEAD’s technical expertise and “big data” resources to generate research products as well as evaluate and report on the effectiveness of educational and workforce development programs and services. The Team oversees and manages the operation of the NC Common Follow-up System (CFS) (https://nccareers.org/CFS/), a longitudinal data system providing outcome information of participants in pubicly supported educational, employment and training programs. This position will work with the CFS data contributors, provide support for data submissions, perform data check to achieve high quality, and perform CFS related research, analysis, and reporting. As a Data Analysit, you will be responsible for: Working collectively with state agencies on data collection for the CFS to ensure data accuracy and integrity; Contributing to analyses related to the delivery and effectiveness of education, employment, and training programs; Providing analytical support to research projects and data requests; Communicating the findings of analyses and research projects through reports and dashboards. Other projects as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Demonstrated experience with data management or statistical software to analyze and manipulate large datasets. Demonstrated experience using exploratory and explanatory data analyses. Demonstrated experience with relational database systems. Demonstrated experience with technical reports and summaries in tabular, graphic, and pictorial form. Demonstrated ability to carry out complex oral and written instructions.
