Responsibilities The Vice Chair of Data Management,Governance & Analytics has a focus on providing high quality datamanagement services to a broad set of Mayo Clinic areas includingclinical areas, research, education, administration and other Mayobusiness lines. The Vice Chair of Data Management and Governanceneeds to have experience with industry-standard data framework,knowledge of MDM strategies including metadata management andreference data management, as well as proven experience with datalakes, data warehouses, cloud data technologies, and ETL processes.

The Mayo Data Technology Platform is used in critical operationsfor data use and delivery through APIs, Interfaces, and real-timedata delivery. Experience in managing critical operations in24x7x365 setting is required in the support of Mayo’s DataTechnology Platform. Experience in data delivery for a spectrum ofbusiness needs from analytics to AI including data readiness forGenerative AI methods. Experience with HIPAA Privacy and SecurityRules with de-identification, anonymization, and synthetic datapractices is required. Experience with data classification, accesscontrols, data security and data quality are also required. TheVice Chair will work cooperatively with the other vice chairs andleaders across the Digital Technology organization to achieve ourBold. Forward. aspirations. The Vice Chair reports to the CIO.Experience with Business Intelligence tools and Data Fabrictechnologies is required to fulfill data centric decision making.

As an enterprise leader, the vice chair has a scope of operationsthat include Mayo Clinic Rochester, Mayo Clinic Heath System,Florida and Arizona. The vice chair is accountable for ensuring themost effective and efficient data management services, strategies,and technologies. The vice chair is responsible for ensuringrelated services and projects meet or exceed expectations, aredelivered on time, and on budget.

Responsibilities include:

• Inpartnership with the CIO provides leadership in planning,developing and implementing data management and governance relatedactivities for Mayo Clinic.
• Is a member of the Department ofInformation Technology and the senior management team of thedepartment.
• Scope includes practice analytics, populationmanagement analytics, financial reporting, data resourcemanagement, data governance, and master data management.
• Willdevelop organizational structure and processes to ensureconvergence and efficient operations of assigned activities.
• Works closely with physician and administrative partners to developstrategies and tactics required to meet organizational objectives.
• Coordinates support activities with business owners, shieldleaders, and corresponding administrative functions of IT, Finance,Human Resources, and additional administrative functions.
• Responsible for development of operating expense and capitalbudgets within the guidelines of the organizations overall goalsand objectives.
• Monitors organizational performance related tosuch budgets and supports the CIO in assuring the organizationoperates in a cost-effective manner.
• Carries out responsibilitiesassigned by the CIO.

The Vice Chair is a contributing member of theMayo Clinic technology organization and reports to either the ChiefDigital Officer or the Chief Information Officer. The Vice Chairwill play a pivotal role in transforming technology at Mayo Clinicincluding implementation of a flexible, outcomes-focusedorganizational framework designed to better support innovation.

This model establishes clear decision-making rights and consistentprioritization for major technological initiatives, improves keytechnologies, enhances our talent, and fosters inspired thoughtleadership along with an outcomes-focused culture. The Vice Chairworks cooperatively with physicians, department chairs,administrative colleagues, and allied health staff across MayoClinic. They may also serve as a liaison to sites, other Mayobusiness entities, or other Administration. The Vice Chairparticipates in planning and implementation of the strategic andoperational objectives in support of Mayo Clinic’s technologygoals. The Vice Chair is accountable for providing guidance,leadership development, and administrative support to their teamsand assigned committees. This role partners closely withphysician/scientist allies to foster a category of one data anddigital ecosystem through collaboration spanning the sites, shieldsand administrative shared services. A Vice Chair ensures theirorganization, and themselves personally, achieve the outcomes asdefined by the CIO/CDO. They build a world class team of expertsand creates a culture of excellence, efficiency and innovation. Asan enterprise leader, the Vice Chair has a scope of operations withall Mayo Clinic business entities. The Vice Chair is accountablefor ensuring that the functions/operations of their area meet siteand other Mayo business entity strategic objectives while keepingMayo Clinic mission and values at the forefront. They developorganizational structures and processes to ensure convergence andefficient operations of assigned activities. The Vice Chair isaccountable for ensuring the most effective and efficiententerprise technology services, strategies, plans, technologies,processes, standards, and skills. The Vice Chair coordinatessupport activities with site leadership, Mayo business entityleaders, and corresponding administrative functions. They may alsowork closely with physician and administrative partners to developstrategies and tactics required to meet organizational objectives.

The Vice Chair will collaborate closely with the other leaders inthe technology organization. They coordinate with the ChiefInformation Security Officer to ensure the implementation ofsecurity and privacy policies. The Vice Chair is responsible forthe development of operating expense and capital budgets within theguidelines of the organizations overall goals and objectives. Theymay also partner closely with other organizations and vendors, andmanage those relationships at the highest level, to ensure to meetMayos vision. They also monitor organizational performance relatedto such budgets and support the CDO/CIO in assuring theorganization operates in a cost-effective manner. The Vice Chaircarries out responsibilities assigned by the CDO/CIO and acts ontheir behalf in their absence to ensure continuity of allorganizational operations, in accordance with the prescribedstandards, philosophy, and policies. Qualifications A bachelor’sdegree in technology, health care administration or related field;a minimum of ten years of significant leadership and managementexperience is required. Leadership and management experience mustinclude working with physicians and allied health staff in avariety of assignments. Must have demonstrated competencies inleadership, management, operations, finance, and excellentcommunication skills. Master’s degree preferred. A ViceChair must have the demonstrated ability to consolidate multiplerelated activities into a comprehensive program and the ability toeffectively manage budgets and drive efficiency in operations.
