Position Purpose
The Data Engineer is a mid-level position responsible for developing and implementing automated solutions as well as integrating internal and external applications across the enterprise. This position also evaluates existing components or systems and collaborates interdepartmentally to determine integration requirements that will ensure solutions meet organizational needs. Requires knowledge within the disciplines of Oracle, Microsoft SQL, and Integration Technology. Additional responsibilities include supporting data needs of users, supporting technical incidents, maintenance of proprietary user access management system, database configuration and supporting quarterly audits. The Data Engineer will be required to communicate with end users, vendors, and other IT professionals, adhere to standard guidelines and policies, and perform ad hoc troubleshooting. This position typically reports to the Senior Manager, Data Management.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Required to learn new and emerging languages/technologies, ad hoc, to facilitate automation and integrations.
Designs prototypes and develops integrations and automation.
Configures databases and defines data requirements for integration.
Maintains proprietary software systems.
Supports multiple types of automation and integration software.
Supports Data Analyst with processing Quarterly Audits
Supports technical incidents, problems, changes, and user data needs.
Maintains knowledge and understanding of how to warehouse, backup, and recover data. Performs ad hoc troubleshooting. Organizes, plans, and manages time effectively to complete assignments.
Conducts/supervises design, development, implementation, and maintenance of scripts/software.
Supports the design and development team with relational database design and integration.
Supports design and development team with the design and development of PL/SQL scripts.
Creates Oracle/MS SQL Server database instances and objects in production, test, and development environments on new and existing databases.
Refreshes development/test databases from copies of production.
Develops and maintains integrations
This is an on-site position at the main office in Birmingham, Alabama
Qualifications
License and Certification
Valid state driver’s license
Technical certifications, such as Oracle or Microsoft, are preferred but not required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate or bachelor’s degree in computer Informational Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent work experience preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience in the field or in a related area
Integration and Automation experience preferred.
Familiar with Cloud technology
Familiar with JSON, XML, and ETL.
Experience working with new and emerging technologies.
Ability to perform Level 3 or Level 4 technical support function of Operations Staff and Applications Development Staff for Oracle and/or MS SQL Server database platforms.
Required to understand PL/SQL packages, procedures, triggers, and functions in use with Integration and Automation.
Knowledge in Unix & Linux operating systems, Windows Server Operating Systems, Azure, advanced TCP/IP Network design/ administration/maintenance, management and administration of large databases, data warehousing, database maintenance and common procedures, relational database design and architecture, performance management and tuning, standard support procedures and techniques, and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with regulatory compliance to include HIPAA, Medicare, CMS, Sarbanes-Oxley, Privacy, and Security
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to develop, document and implement operational support procedures for the Oracle/MS SQL Server infrastructure components.
Proficiency in performance troubleshooting and tuning.
