Job Description

Regions Bank is seeking a Data Scientist (multiple positions reporting to its Birmingham, AL location.)•Job Description•: Work with small teams of data scientists, analysts, and visualization experts, contributing independently to solve high complexity business problems. Leverage expertise in quantitative analytic methods, data management, visualization, and programming suitable to drive data driven decisions. Responsible for researching, modeling, implementing, and validating algorithms (predictive and prescriptive) to analyze diverse sources of data to achieve targeted outcomes. Work with large, structured, and un-structured datasets. Use quantitative and analytical techniques to accelerate profitable growth and customer engagement, unlocking value across all functional areas of business. Use Big Data tools (Hadoop, Spark, H2O, CDSW, Domino Labs, etc) to build data analytics solutions. Contribute to the development of machine learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) models from development and through testing and validation. Assist with designing rich data visualizations to communicate complex ideas to business leaders and executives. Draw insights from data to make quick, well informed decisions with available information. Primarily focus on daily deliverables of routine and defined outputs, while at the same time developing knowledge of broader context in which work is being performed. Position allows for telecommuting from home from anywhere in the United States.•Minimum Requirements•: The position requires a Masters degree in Data Science, Quantitative Finance, Business Analytics, or a closely related STEM quantitative field of study. Alternatively, employer will accept a Bachelors degree in Data Science, Quantitative Finance, Business Analytics, or closely related STEM quantitative field of study and two (2) years of experience in a quantitative, analytical, or STEM related occupation. Skills and experience may be gained concurrently or via Masters degree coursework. The position requires six (6) months of experience with the following skills: Advanced Structured Query Language (SQL) skills; experience with both relational databases and Hadoop-based data mining frameworks; experience with statistical and predictive modeling concepts, machine learning approaches, clustering and classifications techniques, and recommendation and optimization algorithms; experience analyzing large, complex, multi-dimensional datasets using a variety of tools like Python, R, Statistical Analysis System (SAS) or Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS); experience with visualization tools (Power Business Intelligence (BI), Tableau); strong business acumen with ability to communicate with both business and information technology (IT) leaders; and strong communication skills through data visualizations, written and oral presentations.
