Class Summary This position is in the Distribution/Collections Linear Section within the Technical Services Division and is responsible for conducting hydraulic modeling analyses to support our ongoing water and wastewater master planning activities. This position will work closely with our Field Operations and Engineering and Construction Divisions as well as Gwinnett County’s Department of Planning and Development to identify and implement viable improvements and operational strategies identified from hydraulic modeling analysis results.

Typical projects involve:

Maintain and calibrate sewer models Develop and maintain future horizon hydraulic model scenarios Analyze flow monitoring data to confirm data quality to identify areas with excessive inflow and infiltration
Generating and executing a variety of hydraulic model scenarios to assess existing problem areas, predict future issues, and develop solutions for planning and design projects
Conducting feasibility studies, alternatives analyses, and conceptual design documents for wastewater infrastructure improvement projects This position requires excellent data analysis skills as well as knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure hydraulics. Good communication skills are needed to coordinate with and support operations staff, engineering staff, and consulting engineers.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Two years of progressively responsible engineering experience
Valid Driver’s License from state of residence
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) License or ability to obtain one in 18 months.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
Organizational and analytical skills with high attention to detail
Familiarity with computer applications including ArcGIS and MS Access as well as water and sewer hydraulic modeling software (WaterGEMS and InfoWorks ICM) Other Job Requirements/Information This job is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule after an initial probationary period and individual approval.
