Proposes, designs and undertakes mentored, innovative projects or challenges to develop new machine learning software for retinal imaging. Designs and performs analyses of produced data and presents the outcomes.
POSITION SUMMARY
Proposes, designs and undertakes mentored, innovative projects or challenges to develop new machine learning software for retinal imaging. Designs and performs analyses of produced data and presents the outcomes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Read, analyze and summarize published literature
Undertake relevant coursework if required by mentors
Attend relevant meetings
Meet regularly with mentors to review project progress and milestones
Plan and deliver a seminar on the project
Design and execute development of machine learning software and model training
Complete Machine Learning analyses, data analysis and data presentation
Take administrative (inventory, purchasing, etc. ) responsibilities in the lab when necessary
Write a final report and submit manuscripts to a peer-reviewed journal describing the projects and results
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Doctoral degree (MD or PhD) with more than 1 year experience in research, with background in computer vision, image processing, biomedical engineering, bioinformatics, visual science and ophthalmology. Strong programming skills (e.g., C++, Python, R, MATLAB) and in-depth understanding of statistics and machine learning. Linux cluster experience is a plus. Proven publication track record.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Possible lifting of 10 to 20 lbs., depending on nature of chosen project(s).
