Job Description As a Data Scientist at Syngenta, you will be at the forefront of agricultural innovation, leveraging advanced analytics to transform our Crop Protection R D processes. In this role, you will directly contribute to developing more effective and sustainable crop protection solutions, supporting global food security and agricultural sustainability. We’re seeking a passionate, innovative thinker who can bridge the gap between data science and agricultural research to drive meaningful impact in the industry.
Duties:
Data Integration and Advanced Analytics:
Lead efforts to integrate diverse agricultural datasets and apply advanced analytics, including machine learning and statistical modeling, to uncover insights that drive R D decision-making.
Cross-functional Collaboration and Solution Development:
Partner with various teams (e.g., Product Biology, Field Development, Marketing) to develop and deploy data-driven solutions that address complex agricultural challenges and support R D initiatives.
Process Automation and Efficiency:
Develop automated solutions for data processing, analysis, and visualization, working closely with the broader R D community to streamline workflows and enhance productivity.
Digital Transformation and Innovation:
Spearhead the adoption of emerging technologies and innovative data approaches in CP R D, continuously improving our research capabilities and methodologies.
Knowledge Sharing and Capability Building:
Support the adoption of new data analytics tools and techniques across the organization through training, documentation, and collaborative problem-solving. Qualifications Advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Ag Engineering or related disciplines with at least 3 years’ experience. Work level will be adjusted based on education and experience. Excellent background in data analytics, with experience applying it to biology, agronomy, or crop protection. Advanced proficiency in Python or R, ideally with experience developing software packages. Experience with business intelligence (BI) tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire, or Qlik Sense. Familiarity with version control tools like Git and experience with SQL or similar database query languages. Deep understanding of big data technologies, machine learning, and deep learning algorithms, along with expertise in relevant Python libraries. Experience with spatial modeling, GIS analysis, or remote sensing for agricultural applications. Agile, results-oriented mindset with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement and user adoption.
