Job Description

Senior Data Scientist, International A&H (Jersey City, NJ): Collaborate with business partners and peers in the organization to understand and scope the problem, gather business requirements, and plan projects tasks and timelines; Overseeing and ensuring availability and accuracy in data management tools (exposure earning, loss cost modelling, other statistic modeling, dashboards, automating data files, etc.) to improve efficiency in portfolio management; Developing and supporting price optimization initiatives which use data and analytics to support business decision-making that will allow for the most effective outcomes based on the available internal data; Build modeling frameworks that can be leveraged easily for multiple products, High focus on code reproducibility and creating generalizable technology assets for the team; Owning and participating in revenue maximization related projects; Employing detailed data analyses to improve rating sophistication across all lines of business; Identifying novel factors within data that will serve to identify and implement effective means of improving rating factors, as well as improve the control and consistency of existing models; Collaborating with local underwriters to provide data-focused insight and analysis which will allow Chubb to develop technical rates for all lines of business; Developing, testing, implementing, and improving new tools and methodologies to support rate monitoring capabilities; Collaborating with actuarial and underwriting counterparts to develop and peer review pricing recommendations for new product launches; Supporting portfolio review and account management initiatives; Performing actuarial review of underwriting referrals; Training and supporting regional actuaries as necessary, acting as an internal resource for data analysis and actuarial work across all lines of business; Supervise the day-to-day work of the resources that support IAH data initiatives which includes both interns and permanent employees; and Lead GLM modeling work across multi- functional teams. Must have the following skills and experience in order to perform the above-mentioned tasks: Knowledge in statistical analysis and multivariate procedures, including Regression, Classification, Clustering, Dimensionality Reduction, Ensemble Methods, GLMs, GBM, Decision Trees, Regularization and Kernelling; Programming experience in Python, including experience using Python’s libraries such as Numpy and Pandas; The ability to write SQL, as well as a strong understanding of relational databases and approaches to extracting data; The ability to write pipeline to extract, load and transform the data from data lake; The ability to understand the connection of technical tools and applications such as Databricks and Power BI; Proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications; and Knowledge of the Property and Casualty insurance industry in general. Requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Statistics, Analytics, Data Science or related field and at least two years of experience as a Data Scientist or related occupation. Option to work from home may be available.

Travel required:

15% to South America/APAC/EMEA.

Salary:
