Lead Data Scientist
Our Client, a Global Financial Services Firm, is seeking a Lead Data Scientist in their New York, NY location.
Job Summary:
The Lead Data Scientist will play a key role in developing advanced decision support systems using data analytics and machine learning, with a focus on natural language processing (NLP). This hands-on position is responsible for leading projects from start to finish and delivering solutions that enhance operational efficiency and business performance. The ideal candidate will be part of a dynamic, innovative team focused on driving data-informed improvements across business units.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement machine learning models, particularly NLP-based solutions
Perform statistical analysis and hypothesis testing
Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly and effectively
Build, test, and deploy data-driven systems in production environments
Collaborate within Agile development teams
Leverage big data technologies to support scalable data solutions
Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the data science team
Required Skills & Experience:
Strong Python programming skills
Proficient in SQL and Unix scripting
Solid understanding of machine learning techniques, including NLP
Knowledge of statistics and hypothesis testing
Demonstrated success building models that delivered measurable business impact
Hands-on experience deploying models to production
Familiarity with Agile methodologies
Working knowledge of big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)
Education & Experience:
Bachelor s degree in a relevant field
Minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
