Key Responsibilities :
The Senior Data Engineer will utilize deep expertise in SQL Server, data warehousing, and ETL development coupled with a strong grasp of dimensional modeling (Kimball, Star Schema), Type 2 Slowly Changing Dimensions, and performance tuning. The position will lead development of scalable, high-performance data pipelines and work closely with stakeholders to support analytics and reporting initiatives.
Responsibilities :
Effectively communicate with peers, partners, and stakeholders to understand objectives, present solutions, and provide regular project updates. Design, build, and maintain SQL Server-based data warehouses (on-prem). Implement dimensional models using Kimball methodology, including Type 2 SCDs. Develop and optimize ETL processes using SSIS or equivalent tools. Write high-performance SQL queries and stored procedures. Orchestrate data workflows using DAG-based tools (Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect). Integrate new data sources and automate recurring data operations. Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance standards are upheld. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.
Experience :
6+ years of experience in SQL development, data warehousing, and ETL pipelines. Deep understanding of Kimball methodology, Star Schema, and Type 2 SCDs. Expertise in SQL Server environments, including performance tuning. Experience with SSIS or similar ETL frameworks. Python or scripting languages for data workflow automation a plus. Experience with DAG-based orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect) a plus. Familiarity with cloud or columnar data platforms (Snowflake, Redshift, Athena, Spark/Databricks) a plus. Data modeling expertise (Dimensional, Datavault—bonus points for Datavault) a plus.
