ECU Health Medical Center has achieved Magnet designation twice and provides acute and intermediate care, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to a 29-county region that is home to more than 1.4 million people. Position Summary The Data Specialist uses multiple data sources in retrieving, collecting, verifying, and entering data into designated CV Center databases by adhering to established timelines and work plans, locating and initiating review of pertinent patient records, and interpreting/analyzing documentation as it relates to data elements. As a Data Specialist, you will: Ensure completeness and integrity of data records Prepare reports as directed by supervisor Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned Minimum Requirements High School plus 2 years or more formal training or education (Associates Degree in related field is required or higher) Bachelor’s degree is preferred along with a minimum of one year of experience in one of the following settings: hospital surgery department, surgery clinic, clinical research, or medical records A nursing degree is preferred but not required. Non-nurses in this position should have a nurse mentor at the hospital that is accessible to help the SCR answer difficult clinical questions Additional education may be substituted for required experience More than 1 year experience in health care, business, information technology, or related field is required Working knowledge of computer applications and information management is required Experience in clinical chart review and good communication and relationship-building skills is highly desirable Other Information 40 hours per week
Hybrid (#LI-Hybrid)
Monday – Friday (9 am – 5 pm); flexible hours
Required to work on-site for the 1st six months due to department training
