Description of Duties:

The Oracle Database Administrator supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will be responsible for the performance, availability, and security of mission-critical database systems, ensuring alignment with organizational requirements and government standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Database System Administration:

Implement, maintain, and optimize Oracle database systems to meet performance and security standards. This includes managing database installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching.

Performance and Security Management:

Proactively monitor database performance, identify and troubleshoot issues, and implement preventative measures. Enforce database security policies and procedures to ensure data integrity and confidentiality.

WebLogic Expertise:

Demonstrate proficiency in deploying, upgrading, patching, and troubleshooting Oracle WebLogic server environments.

Optimization and Query Development:

Analyze and optimize SQL queries and database performance to maximize efficiency. Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to minimize downtime and data loss.

Collaboration and Technical Leadership:

Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to align database systems with evolving business needs. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior database administrators. Basic Requirements:

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 16 years of general experience; Associate’s degree and 14 years of general experience; Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of general experience; Master’s degree and 8 years of general experience Minimum of 9 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with expertise in Oracle. Must have 3 years of experience in management or leadership roles Must have experience with WebLogic Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher. Must have, or obtain within 60 days of start, a DoD IAT Level II certification (Security +)

Desired Requirements:

Experience as a Database Administrator, with expertise in DB2, Cassandra and MongoDB. Strong knowledge of SQL database performance tuning. Experience with database security concepts, database hardening, and government standards, i.e. Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) etc. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Experience in Cloud environments (i.e. Azure, AWS) Familiarity with Agile processes and tools Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This position is expected to pay $127,000 – $152,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position. This position will be posted for a minimum of 3 days.
