2nd Shift (Thursday Sunday, 11:00 AM 9:00 PM) 4/12
Schedule:
40 hours/week
Training will be Monday to Friday 8 Hours a day until up to speed.
Summary:
The Data Center Technician will support day-to-day operations of the data center, including physical infrastructure installations, DCIM systems management, inventory control, and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in copper and fiber installations, experienced with data center monitoring tools (DCIM), and comfortable working independently during non-standard business hours.
Core Responsibilities:
Infrastructure & Cabling:
Install, test, and troubleshoot complete copper and fiber optic cabling systems (patching and structured infrastructure).
Perform racking, stacking, and cabling of servers, switches, routers, and other hardware.
Install and support pre-terminated fiber solutions and manage fiber/copper patch panel connections.
Terminate and troubleshoot copper / fiber connections.
Use and interpret results from Fluke or equivalent network testing equipment.
Data Center Operations & Equipment:
Utilize DCIM tools to manage space, power, temperature, and cable plant mapping.
Maintain and update asset tracking systems using DCIM and ticketing platforms.
Perform basic server maintenance.
Conduct routine inspections of infrastructure for operational integrity.
Maintain and organize equipment inventory and stock levels, report shortages or restocking needs.
Communication & Coordination:
Coordinate and communicate installation/project status with internal teams and client.
Document work performed in ticketing systems.
Work with site managers and cross-functional teams to ensure deliverables meet timelines and quality standards.
Technical Skills & Tools:
Proficient in Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting.
Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems.
Experience with DCIM software for visualization, planning, and management of data center assets.
Comfortable working with standard hand tools and test equipment.
A+ level computer skills are a strong plus.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
3+ years of direct data center experience.
Industry certifications (e.g., BICSI, CompTIA, Fluke Networks) are a plus.
Additional Requirements:
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to lift equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work in raised floor environments.
Comfortable working independently during second shift hours.
Must adhere to safety and security protocols within data center environments.
