SQL/MySQL Database Developer Position Available In Mecklenburg, North Carolina

Description Job Summary:

We are seeking a Data Engineer with strong expertise in MySQL and SQL Server to support production operations and development work. This role will focus on writing performant SQL queries across large data sets, maintaining and enhancing existing SQL Server environments (including SSIS packages), and assisting in the strategic transition to MySQL platforms. The initial work for this project will start with preparing the current SQL Server Data Warehouse for transition and then evolve into production within a custom MySQL Data Warehouse Environment. The client is a faith based non profit located in Charlotte, NC with working hours from 8am EST to 4:30pm EST Monday through Friday and is fully remote.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Support daily production database operations within SQL Server environments. + Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries against very large data sets. + Develop, maintain, and enhance SSIS packages for ETL processes. + Assist in the migration and transition of data and processes from SQL Server to MySQL. + Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure data solutions meet performance and reliability expectations. + Identify and implement performance improvements and best practices in query tuning. + Ensure database solutions are aligned with security, reliability, and scalability standards.

Requirements Qualifications:

+ 5+ years of experience in a Data Engineer or related role. + Strong expertise in MySQL, including writing and optimizing complex SQL queries. + Solid hands-on experience supporting SQL Server production environments. + Proficient in developing and maintaining SSIS packages. + Experience working with large and complex data sets with a focus on performance. + Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and best practices. + Experience in database migration projects is a strong plus. + Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail. + Strong communication and collaboration skills. + Experience with other ETL tools or data pipeline frameworks.
