Definition of Class This position reports to the IT Director or the onsite IT Manager. The ILS Database Administrator will manage and oversee the Library’s ILS system. This person will also be responsible for ILS and Library backups and server updates. They will also be responsible for the administration of library websites, including the web interfaces of the ILS system, and the library’s web calendar and all LibApp components. Duties & Responsibilities As primary operator of the Library’s ILS (Integrated Library System) is responsible for scheduling regular software updates and backups. Performs title and patron database inquiry and updates. Schedules and runs routine programs to keep up the integrity of the databases. Compiles, prints and distributes system reports. Makes decisions pertaining to database changes and cleanup. Trains new Library staff in the operation of the system. Preforms updates to the library websites, including the web interfaces of the ILS system, and the library’s web calendar and all LibApp components. Administration of the library servers and security network which includes Active Directory, firewalls, file shares, email, Wi-Fi, and other related technologies. Responsible for all onsite server updates, backups, and monitors critical levels such as storage space, memory. Supports IT Technicians with Helpdesk, hardware, and software issues as needed. Other duties as assigned by the IT Director or the onsite IT Manager. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Experience with an Integrated Library Computer System Knowledge of Crystal Reports, SQL, HTML, and JAVA script. Experience with Networking, Servers, and Workstations in a Windows Environment Experience in Database Management Ability to Solve Complex Problems Excellent Interpersonal Skills Excellent Verbal and Writing skills Strong Critical-thinking and Analytical Skills Strong Customer Service Skills Strong Understanding of the Organization’s Goals and Objectives Ability to Conduct Research into Emerging Technologies Ability to Work Independently Ability to Work as a Team Member Experience in Database Management Ability to Physically Lift Equipment up to 50lbs Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or Technical Degree, or 2 years of Experience in a Progressive IT Environment Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy, and SQL.
