Database Administrator Job Description Elizabethtown College is seeking applications for a Database Specialist to join the Information & Technology Services department. This position is part of the four-member Database Support team responsible for managing the College’s enterprise data systems and their integrations with various third-party platforms. As a member of this team, the Database Specialist will directly support campus offices in their use of critical data systems that keep the institution operating smoothly. Key responsibilities include daily monitoring of system processes and integrations, troubleshooting data errors, and ensuring the integrity and security of institutional data. The ideal candidate will possess strong diagnostic skills to identify root causes, sound judgment to implement effective solutions, and a creative approach to process improvement to prevent recurring issues. Success in this role requires close collaboration with others, keen attention to detail, and the ability to make thoughtful decisions in a fast-paced environment. FREE Employee held events throughout the year on campus Job Duties Essential Functions Serve as a first point of contact for emerging database issues, remediating or escalating issues as appropriate
Assist in monitoring and management of on-premises and cloud-based database systems
Assist in daily review and resolution of integration error reports and data audit integrity alerts
Assist in account management, privileged access tools, and password management to enforce access control and database security policies
Conduct routine access and identity account management functions
Ensure data integrity through the creation and maintenance of audit controls, reporting, and data constraints
Document all production code changes in the source code repositories
Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement in collaboration with the Information & Technology Services team and supported offices
Build and maintain detailed technical and non-technical documentation for supported processes and systems
Assist in installing, configuring, and supporting database and application software during deployments, upgrades, and migrations
Track all support requests through the department’s ticketing system
Provide recommendations to enhance support processes, procedures, and documentation
Prioritize response to requests according to their impact and following the Service Level Agreement standards, including quick response for high priority requests
This position is a member of the Database Support group where all members are responsible for assisting in troubleshooting and resolving emergent issues with systems that the group supports

Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required
At least two years of database management experience supporting relational databases; Microsoft SQL preferred
Experience working for a college is also desirable Other Skills, Abilities, and/or Training Possess a technical aptitude to understand complex technical problems with the ability to think through issues and identify/implement a solution
Ability to preserve confidentiality of information
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Demonstrated experience with database systems, including Microsoft SQL Server
Advanced understanding of SQL and ability to create/review advanced queries and scripts
Ability to create advanced reports (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, Power BI, Infomaker, etc.)
Ability to communicate technical information in both verbal and written form to all levels and types of audiences
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students
