Job Description

Description Our client in the higher education space is currently looking for a SQL database admin with AWS experience. They have one database that is running in RDS. It is a SQL server database that uses the EAD model. They are going to need someone that can take and ether convert that to a nice relational database or extract it into a data warehouse where we can get our reporting from and make our reporting easier than the way it’s being stored right now. They won’t be doing reports, but will be working with someone who’s designing the actual reports. Success in this role will ensure that the database is running well and helping them redesign or add design features that we need. They will need to work with a reporting designer to extract data that way, and they need to know how to do a data warehouse extraction from the database itself. This DBA will be assigned to the largest grant funded project on the team and that team is in early discussions of migrating this application to AWS. First week, they will immediately start participating in the knowledge transfer sessions with the other team members that will be working on this project. From there they would be mapping out ideas on changing up the database setup. One of their first tasks will be figuring out how to make the data more accessible to reporting so that is easier for people who are not database gurus and do not necessarily understand this data model.
