Position Overview:
The Wellness Coordinator works to implement the deliverables for multiple grants as related to FLIPANY’s mission of public health and public assistance surrounding food security and equity. This individual will provide direct execution of activities contributing to FLIPANY’s community-based efforts that encourage healthy lifestyles by promoting efforts related to individual and community food security and health equity, specifically in the community of Deerfield Beach and the Healthy Student Healthy Community (HSHC) initiative. The HSHC initiative vision includes a partnership among community members (care providers, schools, and families) that results in a culture of health for our children. The successful candidate will be dedicated to working toward this vision using education, advocacy, and wellness initiatives. This position is key to maintaining quality execution of various program activities, ensuring they are delivered in a manner that supports the mission and vision of the overall organization. This position requires a highly motivated person who has the ability to develop and implement action plans, adhere to realistic timelines, and successfully handle multiple projects and deadlines, as well as consistently maintain organized records of FLIPANY projects. The position requires a detail-oriented self-starter capable of working independently in a fast-paced, diverse environment as well as with volunteers and other staff. Work Hours /
Location:
20 hours per week In-person only on Wednesdays at Deerfield Beach from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm Work from Home / Flexible Hours on other days.
NOTE:
Team collaboration is required; therefore, some work hours must be completed during office hours.
Wellness Coordinator Responsibilities include:
Food Distribution Responsibilities Participate in efforts to operate and maintain three food pantry markets. Participate in efforts to recruit community members to the food pantry markets. Support site staff at schools, churches, and community locations that engage in community-based wellness initiatives and food security curricula/policies/practices with leadership from Advisory Committee members. Ensure safe, timely, and efficient food distribution processes at our three locations, as assigned. Coordinate on-site volunteers and students to become actively engaged partners in the network of individuals working to eliminate food insecurity. Participate in eliminating food waste and/or recycling cafeteria food (via Share Table), when applicable. Meet monthly department goals. Work cooperatively and maintain a positive rapport with FLIPANY staff, advisory board members and volunteers. Act as a liaison between the site and FLIPANY. Data Collection and Reporting Administer and ensure participants register for the food distribution via FLIPANY’s registration and check in processes (via QR code/forms) Administer pre and post surveys, and other required documentation regarding the food distributions to FLIPANY as assigned. Collect and enter data such as registration information into FLIPANY’s data management systems, timely. Participate in efforts to understand satisfaction with food pantry markets, and bring community voices to the managerial team. Contribute to sharing impact and stories about classes and kids/adults who have benefited from FLIPANY programs by obtaining quotes, stories, and other ‘as needed’ requests. Advertisement/Marketing Participate in efforts to advertise the food pantry markets. Contribute to taking photos and saving on share drive for easy access to show the attendance of program participants Work with neighborhood food banks, grocers, non-profits, and other partners that are interested in partnering with FLIPANY to secure future food provisions within the Deerfield Beach community Connect with Program Manager and Senior Program Manager to help conduct community outreach campaign, update school/PTSA website, and create outreach material Create materials for relevant outreach events and opportunities (postcards, banners, presentations, flyers, and updating the website). Conduct interactive presentations for the existing group of stakeholders at relevant committee meetings, such as those led by the Department of Health and the School Board, as well as existing meetings of pediatricians, dietitians, and parent groups in the community. Administrative Responsibilities Adherence to the Consultant Policy and Procedures Manual, where applicable. Submit an invoice with details on time spent for services rendered to your immediate supervisor every 2 weeks on the designated dates provided to you by the Payables Department.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or a related field, or High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus 3 years of experience in a related field.
