TheAdvanced Technology Group (ATG) is the research division of thecompany. Our researchers have a broad range of expertise related tocomputer science and electrical engineering, such as AI/ML,algorithms, digital signal processing, audio engineering, imageprocessing, computer vision, data science & analytics, distributedsystems, cloud, edge & mobile computing, computer networking, andIoT.We’re looking for a talented Staff Data Architect who isexcited to advance the state of the art in technologies of interestto Dolby as well as the human society at large. Research in theareas of data platforms, distributed processing systems, and datascience at Dolby Laboratories focuses on all aspects of large-scalecloud and data processing platforms and services, and novel ways toaccelerate discovering insight from data. We are interested in avariety of topics including large-scale distributed systems, streamprocessing, edge computing, applied machine learning and AI, biggraphs, natural language processing, big data management, andheterogeneous data analytics.
Specifically, we are looking for anarchitect who is passionate about combining science withart-translating research into AI-enabled, low latency real-timestreaming systems and applications, which enable the nextgeneration of immersive experiences.
You will:
Partner with Dolbyresearchers, understand the AI based Imaging/Audio algorithms andoptimize the algorithm to run in Cloud and end device in adistributed way.
Be a key part of a team which is trying to figureout how to do low latency cloud offloading of complexalgorithm.
Partner to develop a Cloud backend solution, Web App andmobile applications for Android/iOS which connect to the Cloudbackend.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement advanced data platforms, unified datamodels spanning structured and unstructured data sets, anddata-enabling systems like metadata management services to supporttraining and inference of AI/ML models in hybrid-cloudenvironment. Design and implement cloud-based, distributed softwarearchitectures and microservice-based platforms to enable lowlatency, real-time streaming and complex event processing thatdeliver Dolby’s next gen Audio/Visual experiences in the cloud oron end-user devices. Develop new applications, novel data collection tools, andinstrumentation regimes that enable an amazing variety ofinteractive and immersive data-driven experiences by inferringcontext of both content and the world around us using AI-basedtechniques. Consult and implement data governance and management policiesto support Dolby’s position as trusted custodian in the media,entertainment, and technology ecosystems. Partner with ATG researchers to understand data and advancedcloud system-related opportunities in adjacent research domainssuch as applied AI and machine learning in Audio / Videodomains.
What you need to succeed: Technical depth: Necessary technical knowledge to create new SWarchitecture, platforms, and enabling systems needed for real-time,just-in-time processing for audio/video algorithms running ondistributed fashion between cloud and edge devices. Basic knowledgeon Audio/Video streaming formats.

DesiredBackground:
PhD in Computer Science or related field 4-8 years of professional experience with relevant experiencebuilding and designing distributed data systems Knowledge of statistics, data science, AI/machine learning, bigdata management Strong proficiency in Python and an additional language (e.g.,C++, Golang, Rust, etc) Expertise in data structures, distributed algorithms(consensus, coordination, etc), data modeling, and data analytictechniques of heterogeneous, stream-based data 4+ years of experience in cloud systems, distributed computingarchitectures (n-tier, peer-to-peer, microservices), service designand implementation (REST, Thrift/gRPC, etc), containerorchestration (Kubernetes) and optimization techniques Experience with real-time messaging and streamingarchitectures, platforms, and frameworks (PubSub/Kafka, Storm,Kinesis, Dataflow/Beam, Flink, Spark Streaming, etc) Experience with AI/ML models, cloud-optimization, and softwaredevelopment patterns Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD (Github Actions, etc), bash,UNIX/Linux commands, etc Familiar with git and project management tools, such asJIRA Excellent problem-solving and partnership skills Excellent communication and presentation skills

Knowledge of Audio/Video formats, processing, editing,and streaming.

Our salary ranges aredetermined by role, level, and location. Within the range,individual pay is determined by work location and additionalfactors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience,market demands, internal parity, and relevant education ortraining.
