Data Engineering Manager – Remote | Contract-to-Hire
We’re seeking a hands-on Data Engineering Manager to lead the design and delivery of a modern, cloud-based data platform for a mission-driven enterprise with strong benefits and a collaborative culture.

Responsibilities:

Lead and mentor a team of data engineers (50%+ hands-on).
Architect scalable, modular data solutions across cloud platforms.
Design data pipelines for structured/unstructured sources (apps, internal systems).
Collaborate with analytics teams to define and deliver data products.
Establish data governance, standards, and QA practices.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, HITRUST, SOC-II, and related regulations.
Oversee vendor relationships and external data tools/services.
Recommend and implement emerging data technologies.
Design for availability, disaster recovery, metadata, and CI/CD.
Drive cloud-native data architecture and secure design practices.

Details:

3-month contract-to-hire
Fully remote, U.S. based
37.5-hour week

Required:

7+ years in data architecture/engineering, 5+ in leadership roles
1+ years people management
Experience with cloud data tools (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, Kafka, dbt, Airflow)
Proven ETL/ELT, batch/streaming architecture design
Built end-to-end cloud data platforms in regulated industries
Deep experience with healthcare/clinical data and claims
Knowledge of MDM, de-ID/tokenization, and API-based data ingestion
Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards
Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
