The IST Director is responsible for the management of the IST departmental staff and all related IST projects. As a member of the hospital’s management team, the IST Director is responsible for ensuring that the IST department provides optimum levels of customer service for both internal and external clients. The IST Director should foster the concept that the department is a service organization to the hospital as a whole.
QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING
Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years of experience with healthcare information systems and telecommunications management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Minimum of five years of related hospital systems and IST departmental management experience including clinical and financial systems and network administration. Demonstrated ability to manage large, complex systems implementation projects that involve multiple stakeholders groups. Comprehensive knowledge of information systems technology and extensive knowledge of hardware and software. Current knowledge of IST/healthcare regulatory and compliance requirements and best practices. Expert project management skills. Strong analytical and tactical skills. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills with the proven ability to successfully lead and motivate a progressive IST staff. Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a diverse group of stakeholders including executives, physicians, trustees and staff. Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. Demonstrated aptitude for learning and presenting new technology. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. Professional manner reflecting maturity and good judgment in dealing with others. Ability to maintain positive and constructive working relationships with clients, peers and subordinates.
