Job Description
Administrative Support Specialist Yadkin County Government 217 East Willow Street, Yadkinville, NC 27055 + Essential Job Functions This position is characterized by the employee’s knowledge or skills particular to an area of specialization or process. Work requires specialized knowledge in the processing and application of the information, documentation and/or materials. The Majority of the time is allocated to tasks that involve several steps and require the selection of the most appropriate action within procedural and operational guidelines. Work requires knowledge of program policies, procedures and information systems in order to communicate and process information. The range of duties includes, but is not limited to, verifying data, report writing, summarizing and reconciling information or financial data, records management, claims review and processing, data collection and analysis, research, and inventory. Completing agency contracts, NC Medicaid billing of CAP Services, Purchasing (researching for best pricing). This position is required to maintain a Notary Certification. This position serves as backup for coverage at the check in windows, processing agency mail and switchboard duties. This position serves as the Vital Records Sub-Registrar. Other duties as assigned. + Education and Experience
- High School diploma or GED.
- Two years of experience in a clerical-accounting function. + Working Conditions

Physical Requirements:
Able to bend, stoop, walk, sit for extended periods of time, view a computer monitor/use a keyboard and mouse, as well as lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and occasional lift up to 35 lbs. Hours of work
- Generally, Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm Workplace Requirements
- Considerable knowledge of office software and technology applications to the administrative environment including spreadsheets, data bases, financial applications, and word processing.
- Ability to operate any office machines required by the position such as computer, copier, FAX, scanner, calculator and other office equipment.
- Ability to record information, balance figures, and arrange/place records, reports and files into proper sequence.
- Able to communicate effectively with people of varying backgrounds, and establish effective working relationships with supervisors, the public, as well as other employees.
- A valid driver’s license + Special Notes Concerning This Position
- A background check, drug screen and motor vehicle report will be required prior to hire
- The duties of this position may also include assistance with sheltering operations and working medication clinics during natural disasters and Public Health emergencies.
- Completion of the Notary Public Course and Certification will be required within 90 days of hire.
- ICS Trainings (100, 200, 700 and 800) must be completed within 90 days.
