The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role. Description This position will offer a hybrid work model out of our Boston, MA office or the Portsmouth, NH office. We are excited to add two new Directors to the Corporate Financial Data Strategy and Governance Team! Working with the Business, IT and Corporate Finance, this person will lead a small team of analysts who will act as financial data stewards for Liberty Mutual’s financial data. This team will define, map, and document detailed premium and loss data from business source systems to one standardized data set for downstream financial processing and reporting. This work aligns with key business and enterprise priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead an analysis team to standardize financial data across domains. Drive delivery of data management products partnering with Global Finance Technology data engineering teams. Create standards and best practices to track and document the data transformations from source to target. Create and share metrics to track progress and show customer value across all stakeholders.
Other Responsibilities:
Leads a team to use best practices and iterative testing to ensure requirements are met. Acts as a technical resource and mentor for staff. Works with stakeholders in defining metrics that are impactful to the business. Prioritizes efforts based on customer value. Manage projects and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective project execution. Acts as a change agent across the organization. Leads the team in effectively transferring knowledge via documentation and process management. Creates roadmaps for data solutions. Turns vague ideas or problems into a data product strategy. Influences strategic thinking across the team and the broader organization. Ensures data solutions include activities and deliverables required to achieve high data quality. Qualifications Bachelors Degree in business or data discipline At least 3-5 years of insurance background required, financial background a plus Strong analytical and relationship skills as we work across business, IT, and corporate stakeholders on complex insurance product models 7-10 years experience in coding for data management, data warehousing, or other data environments, including, but not limited to, working in NoSQL implementation, ETL, Java, scripting languages (Python, Perl, Shell), and the Hadoop stack Able to identify stakeholder and customer pain points and strategically address those concerns Able to describe value and influence the prioritization of data solutions Able to organize and balance resources to address customer pain points Guides a team to break down data issues and resolve them, by prototyping data solutions to meet the needs of both the organization and business customers Strong written and oral communication skills required About Us As a purpose-driven organization, Liberty Mutual is committed to fostering an environment where employees from all backgrounds can build long and meaningful careers.
