Contract Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Governance Architect with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), particularly with Dataplex, to lead the design and implementation of enterprise-grade data governance frameworks. This role will be instrumental in shaping our data strategy, ensuring compliance, and enabling trusted data access across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Architect and implement data governance frameworks using GCP Dataplex, ensuring alignment with enterprise data strategy and regulatory requirements. Define and enforce data policies, metadata standards, and data quality rules across structured and unstructured datasets. Collaborate with data engineers and platform teams to integrate Dataplex with BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, and other GCP-native services. Lead data cataloging and classification efforts, ensuring discoverability and lineage tracking of enterprise data assets. Establish access controls and security policies using IAM and Dataplex’s policy tags to ensure secure and compliant data usage. Drive adoption of DataOps and MLOps best practices, enabling scalable and automated data governance processes. Mentor and guide data stewards, analysts, and engineers on governance tools and practices. Support audits and compliance initiatives by providing traceable and auditable data governance documentation.

Required Skills & Experience:

10+ years in data architecture, data governance, or data engineering roles. 3+ years of hands-on experience with GCP, including Dataplex, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Data Catalog. Strong understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and compliance frameworks. Experience with metadata management, data lineage, and data quality tools. Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Terraform (for infrastructure-as-code on GCP). Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

GCP Professional Data Engineer or Cloud Architect certification. Experience in telecom, finance, or healthcare domains.
