Full Job Description Position Summary:

We are seeking a hands-on Director, Data & AI with expertise in data governance, metadata management, data engineering, and business intelligence to help drive and support our enterprise data strategy. This role is both technical and strategic, requiring practical experience managing data governance processes, defining data quality frameworks, and leading cross-functional data-related initiatives. The ideal candidate will help define, execute, and enhance data management and governance frameworks to ensure high-quality, consistent, and compliant data utilization across the organization.

Qualifications Required:

Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in data management, data governance, and data engineering roles. Practical experience in defining and implementing data governance frameworks and data quality standards. Experience managing and standardizing enterprise metadata and data lineage processes Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (graduate degree preferred). Hands-on experience defining and managing data governance programs, frameworks, and policies. Proficiency with metadata management, lineage tracking, and data quality frameworks and tools. Familiarity with modern data technologies, such as AWS (Redshift, S3, Glue, DynamoDB, Athena), relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB). Experience implementing Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics solutions, preferably on cloud environments. Working knowledge of data security, privacy, and compliance considerations. Familiarity with data integration and ETL tools and techniques. Competency with SQL, data modeling, data taxonomy definition, and documentation processes. Familiarity with workflow automation and productivity tools (e.g., SharePoint, Power Automate).

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Define and manage the enterprise Data Governance framework, including the identification and onboarding of stakeholders. Lead and participate in Data Steering Committees and working groups to establish data governance policies and procedures. Establish and monitor key quality metrics, implement reporting mechanisms, and maintain high standards for data integrity. Drive data accountability through ongoing adoption monitoring and community practice initiatives. Define and implement metadata management and data lineage frameworks to ensure traceability and compliance with organizational standards. Oversee client data unification and standardization efforts, including validation and implementation of client-crosswalk solutions and single identifiers. Coordinate and support taxonomy and data definition activities across functional groups Facilitate the integration of data solutions into existing and future BI platforms. Collaborate on defining common data models and source-to-target mappings to support BI and analytics use-cases. Contribute to optimizing data quality and defect reduction processes to enhance BI outputs. Develop training materials and educational resources related to data governance and data management best practices. Collaborate with various stakeholders, including data engineering, AI teams, product teams, and risk management, to ensure alignment across data strategies. Mentor and guide team members and stakeholders on data governance processes and procedures.

Physical demands and work environment:

Work is generally sedentary in nature. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. Employees in this position will report to the office 3 days per week. Occasional travel may be required. Onsite work requirements may change at any time. The anticipated annual salary range for NY-based candidates for this position is $150,000 – $180,000. Base salary and position level will be determined by the role, experience, skill set and location. For eligible positions, discretionary incentive compensation may be awarded contingent on personal and company performance.
