Position Summary:

As a Data Architect within the Global Center of Excellence (CoE), your primary purpose is to develop and activate an enterprise data architecture that supports both current and future business needs. You will ensure that data systems and processes are scalable, secure, and aligned with business objectives. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand future state requirements and develop strategic roadmaps. Additionally, you will provide insights on global versus regional use of data and manage data both technically and from a business perspective. The position should be performed from a Sylvamo facility (mill or office).

Key Responsibilities:
Architecture & Design:
What:

Develop and maintain enterprise-wide data architecture strategies, standards, and best practices.

How:

Design scalable, secure, and high-performance data models and solutions that align with strategic goals, ensuring integrity and compliance.

Technology & Tools:
What:

Evaluate, recommend, and implement data technology platforms and tools.

How:

Lead proof-of-concepts and pilots of emerging data technologies to assess feasibility and impact on business processes.

Governance & Standards:
What:

Collaborate with the Data Governance team to develop, optimize, and maintain data policies, standards, and procedures.

How:

Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal quality standards.

Collaboration & Communication:
What:

Work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into comprehensive data solutions.

How:

Provide thought leadership and mentor stakeholders on data architecture principles, driving education and advocacy throughout the organization.

Performance & Optimization:
What:

Monitor and optimize data solutions to ensure high availability, reliability, and efficiency.

How:

Identify opportunities to reduce data redundancy, increase data accessibility, and improve solution performance through best practices.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
What:

Stay updated with the latest developments in data architecture, analytics, AI/ML, and cloud solutions.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

Technical Skills/Technical Education
University Degree in similar field
Relevant experience in similar roles

Data Architecture:

Strong background in data modeling, database design and data lake implementation

Cloud Environments:

Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP

Data Warehousing:

Expertise in Synapse, Oracle, Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query

Data Integration Tools:

Knowledge in Data Factory, Informatica, Talend, SSIS.

Database Technologies:

Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL, delta tables

Data Governance:

Understanding of data security and privacy frameworks.
Interpersonal Skills
Fluent in English
