Job Description

Senior GIS Administrator Summary:

The GIS Analyst/Specialist is responsible for systems analysis, maintenance and updating of Geographic Information System (GIS) data. The GIS Analyst/Specialist provides and integrates GIS data into the City of Ormond Beach’s system on a regular basis to ensure complete and accurate data is available for the map display.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Accurately add and edit GIS data to the system. Provide project coordination for specific GIS projects and implementation of other related new systems. Recommend policies to management for the use of GIS systems. Oversee testing of new GIS systems and identifies discrepancies in information processing
Interprets survey plats, topographic maps, construction layouts and record drawings. Prints maps and provide information in various formats to be used by government agencies, companies and the general public. Analyze City’s GIS needs and requirements; identify goals, objectives, and problems; examine alternatives and develop conclusions and recommendations. Performs GIS/GPS troubleshooting and fieldwork. Designs, develops, implements and supports software systems for approved GIS, GPS, and aerial/digital orthophotography projects. Assists in preparation for, response to, and recovery from, the impacts of a wide variety of disasters or emergency situations and may be temporarily assigned to other duties, locations, and shifts. Meets attendance requirements. Promotes positive customer service environment internally and externally. Performs other job-related functions as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly responsible for supervision of subordinate employees assigned to the GIS Department. Education and/or

Experience:

College Degree in GIS, Geography, Planning, Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related field plus at least a minimum of three years experience working with GIS, or closely related field. A minimum of one year experience in any of the following: ESRI technologies (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Pro), personal geodatabases and Microsoft Windows 10 or higher. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
