They will assist the CTO and other departments who need interactive and non-interactive maps for various initiatives. Duties Work Performed Under the general supervision of the Chief Technology Officer, this position’s duties and responsibilities include: Extracting data from various tools and data sources into mapping tools Creating map based tools for citizen and staff use Accurately answering high level questions that depend on geographically based solutions Maintaining the GIS data and databases the city uses Working with newly implemented tools that have mapping components and ensuring required data is connected to those tools or extracted and loaded into those tools Assisting other department heads with any and all GIS-related requests as directed by the CTO Creating new map layers based on specific problems in a variety of tools Perform research to obtain and expand existing datasets Consult with external stakeholders to access censuses, fieldwork, satellite and aerial imagery, and maps Build, manipulate, and update databases Enter new map data using cartographic principles

Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution. Bachelor’s degree in Degree in Computer Science, Geography, Surveying, Engineering or related field from an accredited institution and/or GIS experience or a combination of education and experience equivalent to four years. Ability to apply management, administrative, or supervisory skills to address employee issues and business operations. This ability and experience may have been acquired by any combination of college courses and experience. Outstanding quantitative skill set and analytical mindset Candidates with experience in municipal government strongly preferred Normal Promotion Path Any higher class or level for which eligible and qualified. Physical Requirements Tasks involve the ability to exert very light physical effort in sedentary to light work, involving some reaching, handling, fingering and/or feeling of objects and materials.

Tasks require perception and discrimination of visual and oral communication ability.
