JOB SUMMARY

This role involves creating, updating, and maintaining Geographic Information System (GIS) data, as well as analyzing this data in both desktop and online environments. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining ArcGIS web maps, applications, and Survey123 surveys to facilitate online mapping for data sharing and mobile data collection. Additionally, the position provides GIS support to various departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create, maintain, and edit GIS data and features.
  • Understand geodatabase design.
  • Familiarity with ArcSDE environments and ArcGIS map services.
  • Utilize ArcGIS Online web maps, applications, Survey123, and mobile mapping tools to interact with GIS data.
  • Query GIS data and present results using maps, graphs, and tabular formats.
  • Scan and digitize as-built data into the GIS system.
  • Review incoming data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare GIS metadata that adheres to established standards.
  • Collect GIS data in the field using ArcGIS tools and GPS equipment.
  • Prepare GIS data for use in digital presentations.
  • Communicate effectively with various groups and individuals, including division heads, employees, developers, engineers, architects, contractors, regulatory personnel, customers, and the public.
  • Present information clearly and professionally in both verbal and written formats.
OTHER DUTIES
  • Receive and respond to inquiries, concerns, and complaints from the public, customers, other divisions, and agencies as needed.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • In-depth knowledge of GIS workstation hardware, software, and peripherals in a network environment, specifically ESRI ArcGIS products (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Survey123, etc.).
  • Understanding of GIS principles and practices.
  • Ability to edit and create GIS spatial and attribute data.
  • Capability to perform GIS spatial analysis.
  • Create production-quality maps at various scales as needed.
  • Import and display data from external systems within the GIS framework.
  • Rectify raster data within the GIS system.
  • Able to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
