OVERVIEW

The Technology Center Coordinator will oversee and deliver engaging, educational programming in our state-of-the-art Connected Learning Center. This educator will oversee and influence two distinct computer labs within the A.G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club serving youth ages 6-12 and youth 13-18, ensuring safe, age-appropriate, and transformative technology experiences that promote learning, creativity, and digital citizenship. A dynamic, fast-paced youth facility environment with varying energy levels throughout the afternoon/evening hours. Position requires flexibility to manage multiple age groups, technology platforms, and learning objectives simultaneously. Two dedicated computer labs (ages 6-12 and 13-18) All-in-one computers and laptops VR headsets and immersive learning experiences Digital 3D printers and maker space technology Interactive electronic whiteboards Innovative educational technology tools Required Four-year or two-year degree from an accredited college or university.

Preferred:

degree in Education Technology, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Minimum 2 years’ direct experience with youth ages 6-18 in educational or recreational settings. Effective communication skills and understanding of group dynamics. Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to use AV equipment, video, and design software. Proficiency with Windows and Mac operating systems, basic network troubleshooting, and familiarity with educational technology platforms Demonstrated experience in informal education, tutoring, or youth programming with ability to adapt instruction for different age groups. Genuine enthusiasm for working with children and teens, with understanding of developmental differences between age groups. Preferred Experience with 3D printing, VR technology, or space programming Background in coding instruction (Scratch, Python, JavaScript, etc.) Certification in youth development or education Bilingual capabilities Experience with project-based learning methodologies Knowledge of STEM career pathways and college preparation

Ability to supervise up to 15-20 youth simultaneously across lab spaces Key Job Responsibilities Direct Youth Programming & Instruction Lead hands-on technology sessions for both age groups, adapting teaching methods and content complexity for developmental appropriateness. Design and implement engaging curricula covering digital literacy, coding, 3D designs and printing, virtual reality exploration, and multimedia creation. Facilitate project-based learning experiences that combine creativity with technical skill development. Lab Management & Safety Oversee daily operations of both computer labs, ensuring equipment is functioning properly and spaces are set up for optimal learning. Maintain strict safety protocols for all technology use, with particular attention to enforce age-appropriate internet safety measures and with strict adherence to A.G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club and BGCA Technology Policies. Age-Differentiated Programming Deliver and as needed, develop distinct programming tracks for elementary (aged 6-12) and teen (ages 13-18) participants. Work with youth to teach computer and technology skills ranging from typing/keyboarding to computer software applications. Plan, implement and supervise a variety of creative programs with an emphasis on technology. Create foundational technology skills courses for younger children focusing on digital citizenship, basic computer skills, and creative expression. Deliver more advanced programming for teens including virtual reality, intro to coding languages, digital design, career exploration in STEM fields, and leadership opportunities in peer mentoring. Technology Maintenance & Innovation Perform routine maintenance on all lab equipment including computers, VR headsets, 3D printers, and interactive whiteboards. Stay current with emerging educational technologies and recommend new tools or programs that could enhance youth learning experiences. Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate with IT support when needed. Youth Engagement & Mentorship Build positive relationships with participants, serving as both instructor and mentor. Identify individual interests and learning styles to personalize technology experiences. Encourage collaboration and peer learning while maintaining appropriate supervision and guidance. Support youth in developing confidence with technology and critical thinking skills. Safety & Digital Citizenship Educate youth about online safety, digital footprints, cyberbullying prevention, and responsible social media use. Monitor all online activities to ensure age-appropriate content and interactions. Maintain current knowledge of internet safety best practices and emerging digital threats facing young people. Prepare Youth for Success Ensure programs, services and activities that prepare youth for success, always promoting the safety of members and quality in programs. Provide guidance and role modeling to members and staff in alignment and support of BGCA values. Contribute to the planning and implementation of the strategic plan by: Planning, organizing, and implementing a range of programming services and activities for members and visitors. Recommending the development of service area programs and initiating innovative programs with the approval of the Program Director. Promoting program participation and staying abreast of and leverage community engagement opportunities. Proactively developing daily and monthly programming plan summaries detailing the technology plan for each group/each lab throughout the month. Maintaining daily, weekly, and monthly activity participation summaries through reports that outline the ‘who/what/when and where” details of programming delivered; submitted to the Unit Director, Program Director and Resource Development Director. Engage BGCA website for program manuals and ideas in promotion of technology. Other duties as assigned.
