Information Technology Operations Manager Position Summary:
Hamden Hall Country Day School (Hamden, CT) is seeking an Information Technology Operations Manager who will manage, plan, and coordinate all technology-related activities throughout the school. This individual will supervise the work of the Network Administrator and IT Support Specialist and collaborate closely with the library staff. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively with administration, faculty, staff, and students, keeping in mind that “technology should be in the service of learning ” – Tom Daccord. This individual reports to and is evaluated by the Head of School or his designee and collaborates closely with members of the administrative team. Additionally, this individual serves on the school’s Technology Committee.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the school’s expanding technology environment.
- Manage and expand the wireless infrastructure to support BYOD and the Lower School 1:1 program.
- Oversee the technology department and its staff, which includes managing the technology budget, coordinating technology projects, preparing and monitoring contracts with vendors and agencies, supervising hardware and software licensing, and ensuring the functionality of school networks and organizational systems.
- Review the work of the technology department to ensure alignment with and fulfillment of the school’s mission.
- Oversee and develop procedures that ensure the stability, security, and availability of the computing environment.
- Develop procedures for upgrades or enhancements to the environment.
- Collaborate with academic and non-academic offices to create and implement cohesive technology systems across all areas of the school.
- Administer and optimize the core data management system, Blackbaud, to support key operations of the school (SIS/LMS).
- Assist with data functions across all departments, including but not limited to managing custom reports, creating queries and lists, publishing reports, validating and updating data in various systems, and assisting with mass email and communication.
- Participate in developing the vision for integrating technology into the school’s academic program and operations, with an emphasis on curricular integration.
- Assist in translating the overall vision into a long-range plan and communicate ongoing implementation among the school community.
- Research new and emerging technologies, software and hardware solutions, and professional development opportunities.
- Coordinate with faculty who oversee the school’s standardized testing to support devices and administration.
Requisite Skills & Experience:
- BS or equivalent; Master’s or advanced degree certification preferred.
- Network administration experience, ideally in independent schools.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and project management.
- Technical knowledge across various hardware platforms and operating systems.
- Familiarity with a multi-platform institution, including MacOS, iOS, Windows 10 & 11, and Windows Server.
- Familiarity with a virtual environment.
- Experience with mobile OS platforms, particularly within collaborative and educational settings.
- Ability to support Google Workspace.

$90,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
